Unexpected treasures At Hope Street Yard Antiques in Cambridge

Tucked away just off Mill Road in Cambridge is Hope Street Yard Antiques – a small yard housing a row of lock up units and a couple of shops selling a fantastic array of antiques and vintage goods. Warren, the owner, has been trading here since the early 1970s and has built a loyal following thanks to the eclectic mix of items as well as the reasonable prices.

The whole place has a wonderful ambience and it pays to take your time and enjoy a good rummage as there’s always something new. One unit sells really amazing furniture with a lot of stylish mid-century stock, another is piled to the roof with vintage finds and the third one has a craftsman lovingly restoring his wares. You’re guaranteed to find the kind of treasures you’ve been searching ages for as well as unexpected items you never knew you wanted. We found our ‘Cambridge Carmania’ toilet cistern at the Yard – a dream purchase for a potter!

There’s a small car park at the yard and free parking on the surrounding streets, although Cambridge parking attendants are vicious so always be sure to check the signs. On nearby Mill Road there are some great cafes, charity shops, vintage shops and delis so you can easily while away a whole morning in this little corner of Cambridge.
